(More customer reviews)A bit disappointed. I put two average size planters on it at full extension and it nearly fell over. The idea was to have the planters up higher, but it couldn't support the weight so they are at the lowest extension. Guess they would be fine for smaller size planters.

Stovall 10H Nursery Bat House Review

(More customer reviews)The bat house from Stovall seems to be pretty well constructed, for the most part. Although, the vent at the bottom is larger ( about 3/4" or so) than the 1/2" that is usually specified in plans that are available for making one yourself. I don't know if that size vent is a problem or not. The stick that you see sticking out the top of the bat house, is the hanger. There were no real instructions that came with the bat house. There is a sticker on that hanger stick that tells you to swivel it up and reinstall the 2 screws that come with the house. There is a pilot hole drilled through the top of that stick, apparently for a user supplied screw to mount the house.
The house weighs about 17 lbs and I didn't think that 1 screw would be sufficient to attach the house to my pole. I drilled another pilot hole a couple of inches below the original mounting hole and attached the house to my pole with 2 #8 screws. The 2nd screw split the hanger stick pretty bad, so I had to make another one. The included hanger stick doesn't seem to be cedar like the outside of the house. I had some cedar planks, so the new hanger board that I made is cedar and will last as long as the house.
The house has 3 chambers inside, with fine netting attached to the surfaces. There is no landing platform for the bats, that you see on many of the bat house designs and I couldn't detect any openings between the chambers. I don't know if any of these things are an issue for bat occupancy of the house.
I mounted the house on a pole, generally following the instructions found in this booklet, The Bat House Builder's Handbook: Second Edition [BAT HOUSE BUILDERS HANDBK -OS], since there were no instructions with the Stovall bat house. If you don't already know how to install one of these houses in an optimal manner for bat occupancy, I'd suggest buying one of these type books.

Stokes Select Small Hopper Bird Feeder Review

(More customer reviews)Made of metal this feeder will not break as easily as the plastic ones. However, in the coldest winter months, birds don't seem to like the metal perches as well as the plastic or wooden ones.
The most important issue is drainage. This feeder does not drain properly. After a rainy night the seeds and hulls are packed in the tray restricting access to the dry seeds inside. This soggy mess could result in sick birds. Enlarging the drainage holes with a drill might help but I haven't tried yet.

35001 Cling - A - Wing - Part #: 35001 Review

(More customer reviews)This is the third cling-a-wing bird feeder I've purchased over the years. I don't recall having difficulty assembling the others. The swivel cover for the seed receptacle is hard to move the first time. You need to FORCE it, which doesn't seem logical. And the metal bolt that holds the whole feeder together doesn't protrude from the bottom for the connecting nut to have a good "grab" on it. I ended up filing off some of the plastic around the bottom hole so that the bolt could stick out farther. Then I could get 4-5 good turns on the nut! Now it's fine.

- the feeding pipes are made from metal and appear to be copper but start to rust and seem to oxidize from the inside (i.e. when cleaning I get a lot of dark brown dirt out of them) - I wouldn't want to drink from it myself.
- the rubber part smells awful (like a car tire) and I am not sure if any chemicals get released into the water
- the glass is just painted red and the paint comes off if scrubbed
- the dripping seems to be much worse than my previous glass feeder
I had a red glass feeder before which worked better. The feeding pipe looks like the product photo here (transparent single plastic pipe with a red rubber cap). So I am really disappointed that the photo doesn't show the product and the function is not as promised (as I am probably poisoning the birds).

Birdscapes® 151 The Metal Twist Feeder, 2 lb capacity Review

(More customer reviews)The brilliant spiral tube design allows this tube feeder to hold three different seed mixes, about 1-1/2 cups of each, to attract the most variety of vistors. Like most tube feeders, the perches are short by design, to encourage small birds to visit. So far, it's a hit! Larger birds like cardinals and jays will not be able to hang on, but they will pick up the crumbs on the ground below.
I don't see any screw for attaching an accessory seed tray (dish) to the bottom of the feeder. However, a clear 6" plastic plate (the kind for picnics and birthday cake) is easily added on top to help deflect rain.
I would say the color is a dark warm gold, that goes well with bronze, copper, or coffee colored landscape furniture. I bought (white) safflower, (black) nyjer seed, and anti-squirrel chili pepper seed mixes to go with this feeder. Love, love, love it!
